CORE Knowledge Hub Workshop: Empowering Healthcare: Addressing Unique Health Disparities in gbMSM

About the session: This interactive workshop is designed for healthcare professionals and community workers to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively address the unique health disparities impacting gay and bisexual men who have sex with men (gbMSM). Participants will engage in dynamic discussion activities and group exercises that break down complex topics into understandable concepts.

Key focus areas include:

  • HIV and Sexual Health: Understanding the specific challenges and prevention strategies for gbMSM.
  • Chemsex: Addressing the intersection of substance use and sexual behavior.
  • Sexual Violence and Consent: Creating safe and supportive environments for discussing consent and responding to sexual violence.

By the end of this session, participants will have a deeper understanding of the societal factors that facilitate these health disparities, such as stigma, discrimination, and barriers to healthcare access. They will also learn effective strategies to mitigate these factors, including culturally competent care, advocacy, and community engagement. This workshop aims to empower attendees to make a tangible impact in their professional and community roles, fostering healthier outcomes for gbMSM.
